Shellter

Proposition of a futuristic scenario for the garbage collectors of Veghel, The Netherlands.

Prototypes of robots with their shells.

Ceramic minor : it started by making a collection of items.

Collecting materials on the streets feels like picking up shells on the beach.

Assemblages.
Terrestrial Hermit crab.
The crustacean uses the cap as a protective shell. This picture shows the environmental issue of the abandoned objects in our surroundings.

Céline got inspired from the assemblages. She focused on the organic shapes of the objects combined with their shadows. The overall appears to be anthropomorphic.

From 2D to 3D, Céline kept the outline as a guide and started to sculpt the shapes. The volumes are about hand size, around 15cm wide.

First the sculpture out of foam, and then the ceramic prototype.

Those shapes were meant to be in ceramic, therefore while sculpting Céline kept in mind the next step in the process : the mold making.

Proposition of three different shells for the robot collector.
